It’s a part that was cut out from the American release.

Mewtwo was originally part of an experiment that included a Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and the scientist’s dead daughter, Ai. Mewtwo was a kawaii babbu and played with them in this weird little dream world while they were growing in their test tubes, but one by one the other Pokemon grew unstable and vanished.

Ai vanished last.
